We were forced to take this action due to the daily gambling and pornographic advertisements that were being placed by Internet bots that scan websites looking for places to place their unwanted advertisements. LEGAL NOTICE OF COPYRIGHT
The Mods were a rock n' roll band that existed in Toledo, Ohio during the 1960's. In 1966 The Mods recorded and released one 45-RPM single on the Peck Record label in Toledo, Ohio. The two songs on the Peck label included two original songs co-written by two brothers who were members of the band; Terry Smith and Larry Smith. The Peck Records recording not only established the Smith brothers legal claim as co-writers for each song but also established their claim to the 50/50 ownership of shared copyright to each song on the Peck Records recording.

In 1982 and 1998 both songs from the original Peck Records release were reissued by Crypt Records on various LP/CD compilations. The reissues of The Mods songs on Crypt Records label are the only reissues authorized by Larry Smith of The Mods. Both songs posted on this page on are registered with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) which collects royalty fees on behalf of artists for "public performances" of copyrighted works.

In November of 1997 Terry Smith passed away at age 52. In 2008 Larry Smith re-registered both songs recorded by The Mods in 1966 through the U.S. Copyright Office located at the United States Library of Congress. The U.S. Copyright Office required (2) copies of the PECK recording along with the registration paperwork and no viable copies were in possession of any of the remaining members of The Mods; so the Crypt Records LP reissues from 1982 and 1998 were used for re-registration of copyright.

The U.S. Copyright office now shows Larry Smith as the registered copyright owner for both songs namely, "I GIVE YOU AN INCH (AND YOU TAKE A MILE)" / "YOU'VE GOT ANOTHER THINK COMING." Larry Smith "Reserves All Rights" to the music and the lyrics for each song including the "sound recording rights" from the original soundtracks on the PECK Records recording. These sound recording rights from the Peck Record label reverted to Larry Smith due to Peck Records no longer existing as a record label. "Any use of the original soundtracks, the music or the lyrics from the Peck Recording are prohibited without the express written permission of Larry Smith will be considered copyright infringement and subject to legal action.

If you want to use either song including the soundtrack, the music or the lyrics permission can not be granted from anyone except Larry Smith who owns the copyright. The penalties for copyright infringement are severe. The statuatory penalties for copyright infringement are up to $150,000 per occurrence and a possible prison term."
